The Bawal block of Rewari district will become a subdivision by August 15. The block will also get a new bus stand, stadium, independent grain market and college of agriculture.

The adjoining block of Khol will get a primary health centre at Khori village, a women’s college at Pali and a polytechnic at Damlawas. Manethi will get the status of a sub-tehsil.
Announcements to this effect were made by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while addressing a well-attended “vikas rally” here today.
Overwhelmed by the sizable gathering at the rally, Hooda also announced a grant of Rs 10 crore for the development of the Bawal area and Rs 15 lakh for each ward of the local municipal committee.
Coming down heavily on the leaders of the Opposition parties, the Chief Minister asked the people to question the BJP and INLD leaders on what they had done for their welfare.
Citing official figures, Hooda claimed that more money had been spent on the development of Rewari and Bawal area during the past eight years than what had been spent here ever since the creation of the state till the swearing-in of his regime.
The Chief Minister once again remained non-committal on the demand for the upgrade of the regional centre at Meerpur into a full-fledged university raised by senior Haryana Cabinet minister and Rewari MLA Capt Ajay Singh Yadav. Hooda merely said the matter would be given a serious consideration.
Earlier, former Haryana minister Jaswant Singh raised several issues of local concern. He maintained that the roads of the area were in a poor condition and the canal network also needed to be revamped to ensure adequate supply of water.
HPCC president Phool Chand Mulana presided over the meeting. Haryana Health Minister Rao Narender Singh and several MLAs owing allegiance to the ruling party also addressed the gathering. The CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of a number of developmental projects in the area.

2-Work on Delhi-Mumbai DFC moving at high speed

The completion of the much awaited Delhi Mumbai Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) may have been officially delayed to March 2017 but the work on the project is at a high swing. The project was conceived during the budget session of 2005-2006 and in October 2006, a special purpose vehicle was created under the ministry of railways. The Western Corridor covers a distance of 1483 km of double line electric (2 X 25 KV) track from JNPT to Dadri via Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Palanpur-Phulera-Rewari.
The western dedicated corridor project will comprise three phases— Phase-I from Rewari to Vadodara (920 km) to be completed by 2017, Phase-II from Vadodara to JNPT (430 km) and Phase-III from Rewari to Dadri (140 km). According Mr Rajesh Khare, Spokesperson for DFCCIL, the Phase–I will not be extending up to Vadodara as first envisaged but will end at Palanpur which is roughly 690 km against the original 920 km if the phase-I had extended up to Vadodara.
Reports from the railway ministry tell us that funding for Western Corridor Phase I is tied up with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The first tranche of the loan for 90.2 Billion Yen (Rs 4,500 cr) has been signed. Funding for Phase II (Vadodara-JNPT) of the Corridor is under negotiation with JICA for 295 Billion Yen (Rs 20,000 cr).
Land acquisition
With both corridors combined, the land acquisition has been at 82 per cent says a press release from DFCCIL. In the western corridor, out of total 3,608 hectare required in phase-I, 3,186 hectare has been acquired. For the phase II, out of total 2,252 hectare required, 1,041 hectare has been acquired.
Not much land needs to be acquired since a major part of the DFC runs along the existing tracks of Indian Railways. Besides, the requirement of linear land rather than concentric acquisition of land has also helped in faster acquisition. For the remaining portion land including the land required for diversions at certain points will be acquired by the Ministry of Railways and given on license to DFCCIL.
DFCCIL, being a special railway project, can do land acquisition under the land acquisition amendment, 2008, rather than under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. According to their website, in the RAA (Railway Amendment Act) 2008, the entire land acquisition can be done by an officer nominated by DFCCIL, who is a competent authority to do the liasoning work with the state authorities. The RAA 2008 is much more liberal and faster, so the people from whom the land is acquired are better compensated
